As the world’s largest manufacturer of business jets, Cessna continues to push forward with new innovations, determined to keep its position at the top. Cessna’s Citation series of jets has grown to be the most popular private jet series anywhere, as they have continued to advance the design and performance mark for the industry for mid size jet aircraft since the first Citation X rolled onto the tarmac in 1996. The award winning Citation X was the first commercial jet in the history of U.S. aviation to achieve a cruising speed of Mach .92 when it was released. Since then, the Citation line has grown to eight successful models with three more in production. The latest of the group are the Citation Latitude and Citation Longitude.
The Citation Latitude (http://www.citationlatitude.com) was announced in October, 2011 in Las Vegas at the National Business Aviation Association Convention. Cessna took cues from pilots and buyers alike in defining the Citation Latitude and the results are grabbing accolades. With a cruising speed of 509 mph and a range of 2300 nautical miles, the Citation Latitude features the widest cabin in Cessna history at 77 inches. The 22 foot long cabin features a flat cabin floor and a full 72” center height. Because business travelers’ needs have evolved to require more technology at their fingertips, the planes feature a custom fiber optics based cabin management solution designed by Heads Up Technologies. The system, called Clairity™ utilizes individual passenger seat touch screens or their own personal electronic devices to control cabin lights, temperature, window shades, as well as to deliver internet, games, movies and satellite TV and radio with music, news and sports. And the passenger can also bring their own MP3 playlist aboard on a USB stick and merely insert it, allowing all other passengers to browse and listen as well.
Barely seven months later in May 2012, Cessna announced the new Citation Longitude, (http://www.citationlongitude.com) another groundbreaker with a surprising 4000 nautical mile range and a cruising speed of .86 Mach (654 mph). Positioned to be a leader in the midsize long range jet market, the Citation Longitude offers a level of comfort and amenities previously not found in jets of its size Like the Citation Latitude, the Citation Longitude also features the Clairity™ cabin management system which delivers ultimate cabin control directly to the passenger’s smartphone or tablet. The 31 foot cabin offers a full 6 feet of headroom with standard configuration seating for eight. An extra large cargo bay is at the rear of the cabin and is fully accessible from the interior, allowing access to personal items on long international flights.
The private jet industry continues to push the envelope with regard to luxury and innovative technology coupled with forward thinking engineering and design. The Citation Latitude and Citation Longitude will be in the air in 2016 and 2017 and we at Private Jets Charter look forward to booking your flight to your favorite dream destination.
