1,000+ planes, 10,000 people expected at AOPA Aviation Summit

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association expects more than 1,000 aircraft and 10,000 people to attend the AOPA Aviation Summit, which kicks off today and runs through Saturday in Tampa, Florida, according to a story in the Tampa Tribune.

The story quotes AOPA spokesman Chris Dancy:

“We traditionally plan for 2,000 aircraft. Realistically, and assuming good weather, we think 1,000 aircraft on the ground at any one time, probably split evenly between Peter O. Knight and Tampa Executive airports, would be the highest likely.”

One of those aircraft will be the 1937 Lockheed Electra used in the movie “Amelia,” the story notes. Read the full report here.
