OSHKOSH — The Experimental Aircraft Association has only known two leaders during its more than 50-year history. The search for the third — and the first not named Poberezny — has lasted nine months and is back to square one, according to a report in the Green Bay Press Gazette. The story notes the first search unraveled this summer when the board of directors fell short of a unanimous choice, the front-runner — Pete Bunce, now president of the General Aviation Manufacturers Association — removed his name from consideration, and one board member — Eclipse founder Vern Raburn — resigned his post over the direction the search process was headed.

“EAA President Tom Poberezny, who will remain chairman of the EAA board, said he feels confident about the direction of the search to find someone to succeed him as president now that the board has selected nationally recognized search firm KornFerry to begin the process anew. Despite strong opinions from a lot of members on the 40-member EAA board, Poberezny said he believes there will be unity as the group moves forward for the second time.

“The board is unified in the direction we’re going. We had a good discussion about this and made a positive decision,” Poberezny said.”
