China surges up world economic, tourism and air-travel rankings
China has officially become the world’s second largest economy after the US, having overtaken Japan in 2010; the World Tourism Organisation predicts China to become the world's largest tourist destination and source within five to seven years; and IATA expects China to top the global rankings for domestic and international passenger growth between now and 2014.
