The Coalition to Save Our GPS has asked (download letter to FCC and release) the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to "promptly rule" that Lightsquared can never use the upper mobile satellite spectrum (MSS) band for high powered terrestrial (cellular) operations. In January, Lightsquared was granted a conditional waiver to operate in the upper and lower 10 MHz MSS bands, providing it could prove operations would not cause GPS interference. The coalition claims, and significant testing confirms, interference does indeed exist when both upper and lower bands are used and so the FCC should rule the upper band "should be taken off the table now."
