2010: Yet another year of solid growth for Kuwait
2010 could be a year of unprecedented growth for Kuwaiti aviation, after a very solid increase in 2009. With three home carriers – Kuwait Airways, Jazeera Airways and Wataniya Airways – all crowded into Kuwait International Airport (KIA) and a local open skies policy supporting continuing route development, the country’s growth rates could challenge some of its Gulf Cooperation Council neighbours such as Qatar and the United Arab Emirates this year. In many ways, Kuwait is a leading light for the region, although the progress of reforming Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) remains a distinct negative on the national aviation scorecard.
