Jetstar confirms Singapore as Asian hub; AirAsia growth continues in 2009
AirAsia and Jetstar, which this month announced details of a ground-breaking new alliance, are underscoring their ambitions to remain the dominant LCCs in the Asia Pacific region with a string of new announcements. AirAsia has reported another very strong set of traffic results in 4Q2009/2009, while Jetstar has confirmed Singapore as its Asian hub, providing the platform for expanded long-haul flying from the hub. Both AirAsia and Jetstar have fared better than their network carrier counterparts amid the global economic crisis, with these carriers expecting a further boost in travel demand (and profitability) in 2010.
